Pomodoro requires almost nothing. All you need is a timer and a to‑do list. Follow the steps below to start your first session.

Five steps

  • Pick one task — Decide specifically what you'll do in these 25 minutes. Writing it in the task label helps.
  • Set the timer for 25 minutes — Press start and focus only on that task.
  • Do only that task until it's over — If other thoughts come up, just jot them on paper and keep going.
  • Rest 5 minutes when the alarm rings — Get up, stretch or drink some water, and take your eyes off the screen.
  • Take a long break every four — After four focus sessions, rest a full 15–30 minutes and start again.

Start like this

Don't try to follow it perfectly from the start. Even one or two sessions is a solid beginning. If 25 minutes feels long, lower the barrier with the Short Burst (15‑minute) preset, and increase the time as you get comfortable.
